PD3200u KVM shortcomings

Nikolay Ichpekov Aug 20, 2017 05:01PM CDT

New to this monitor (which was a warranty replacement so thank you BENQ :) ) with that in mind some constructive criticism.

The KVM feature seems to be extremely poorly implemented. Firstly it will only switch KM and not Video (which you have to do manually) but most importantly it will auto switch to the next USB upstream if one machine is powered down (and not auto switch video).

This means in common situations where one machine is a workstation/server (which is seldom switched off) and an active PC that is frequently powered down the KVM feature is unusable. It will perpetually switch to server when PC is rebooted yet leave video on PC input.

I'm hoping a firmware update may address this, at the very least auto switching of USB upstream ports should be disabled (or optioned on the OSD).

Thanks for reading.

Hi Nik,

Thanks for the feedback. I’ve sent this over to the product team to see if these can be addressed with some firmware changes.

Thanks, I noticed a few reviews of this panel also spotted this issue. I'm hoping it can be fixed in firmware soon as it's basically made any and all usb ports on the monitor unusable due to them auto-switching every time one machine is powered down.

Hello Simon,

No one has said a firmware update would not be created it will just take some time for firmware updates to be released.
